Artist and Event Gallery
I've seen and taken pictures of many different and interesting local and visiting artists performing solo and in "battle of the bands" contests and events around the Philadelphia area. Here are the ones that stood out. Many have links to specific pages for that artist or event.
Artists
These are the artists I support. I enjoy their music and I am friends with most of them. Many have used my pictures for their own sites.
Blue Sinatra - Philly-based R&B, rap and blue-eyed soul with horns. Cool! |
Dave Devlin - Rock singer/songwriter. Great heart and energy and plays some of the most emotional music I've ever heard live. I do have to say that I am his friend, frequent photographer, and one of his biggest fans. But check him and his band out anyway. |
Future 86 (formerly Pretty Suicide) - Female-fronted hard rock band from New York . Plays rock classics and originals. Recommended. |
Mouth Of Wilson - Trenton-based acoustic rock group. Features inventive guitar work and poetry-laced lyrics. |
The Pheromones - Warminster-based group with simple yet catchy songs. |
Polymer - Philadelphia alt-rock group that brings to mind such acts as Simple Plan, Jimmy Eat World and Incubus. |
Also on my travels, I have encountered some other bands and artists that are really interesting but have not been back to the area much or play my favorite type of music. Maybe you can check them out.
Bitches Brew - New Hope-based instrumental/spoken word group with plenty of brass and percussion. |
Blue Number Nine - Jazzy group with flute-playing, songwriting-award winning front woman and backing singers based in New Jersey. Impressive. |
Rich Cox - Pop/rock singer/songwriter. Songs have been featured on TV and in movies. He covers a wide range of pop music classics. Go check him out. |
Kristen Diable - New York-based country, jazz and blues-influenced singer/songwriter. |
Jealousy Curve - Philly rock with a touch of soul. They played on the Vans tour and are gaining national exposure. |
PIC - Multi-ethnic hip-hop, punk, funk, ska and soul from New York. Good friends with Blue Sinatra. |
Revision - Slow, funky white R&B group from New York. |
Sinking Ship - New Jersey-based pop/rock/performance act complete with silly songs and costumes. Think Sgt. Pepper-era Beatles but with more nonsense. And flashing. |
Stang - Inspiring rock led by Canadian prodigy. Recommended. |
Valeze - Punk rock band from New York. No Doubt-like but sexier. Hosts Circus variety show/party. |
These bands have broken up, but I hope to help their spirt live on.
Free Machine - They were dynamic group with one of the most unique singers of the Philadelphia area. I was lucky enough to stumble on one of their final shows together. |
These Crowded Streets - A Dave Matthews tribute band that I got to know very well and gave me plenty of good memories. They are officially on hiatus but I was saddened to learn that the spirit of his music could not keep them together. |
Events
Philly Rock Idol - The first competion I saw allowed me to get some great pictures and meet WMMR personalities, but not much more than that. |
Rockin' Garage - My second go at seeing a competion but with so many groups, only a few stood out. |
Emergenza Fest - My friends Mouth Of Wilson made a name for themselves there, making it to the TLA and the regional finals. |
