About Catapilla

Catapilla's passion for music came at a relatively young age. Soon after getting his first cassette deck at the age of nine, he was making his own mix tapes and video game soundtracks. He also was adept at journalism and filmmaking which he explored in high school and early in college through his work on class projects, newspapers, literary journals and a school television station. Music was a large part of his film projects; he created a montage of his hobbies set to his favorite songs and music videos using footage from fellow students' projects. Live performances had always intrigued him, and the filming of a benefit concert with classmates' bands led to more coverage of one after graduation. During these years, he absorbed as much he could about popular music from books, music videos, informational shows on MTV and VH-1, even his parents' albums, using this information to amass a fairly large album collection. In college, he discovered the Internet and was amazed by all the information and later, the increasing ability for musicians to connect with fans and fans to connect with each other. Early file-sharing intrigued him with the ability to listen to songs that he hadn't heard in years and couldn't find anywhere else. However, other hobbies, working and receiving an education took up more of his time and his interest in music declined. But not long ago, real world experience led him back to music in a big way.
