John and Peter's - 3/25/05

Old And New Devlin Friends

When Dave Devlin takes over John and Peter's you are never quite sure what you are going to get. One thing for sure, his supporting acts are a diverse group of his friends who are good in their own right. This night, both new and old friends took the stage. Devlin himself warmed up the crowd with his emotional songs which are even more impressive and raw when he performs them solo. New York native Kristen Diable made her first appearance there, gracing the venue with her country, jazz and blues-tinged material. Mouth Of Wilson performed well on short notice and despite many technical problems that frustrated singer Chris Arland. They passed out copies of their two-song demo with the promise of an upcoming full-length album later in the year. The audience was also treated to former Devlin bassist Mike Gioella's current group Rain Dog, a Grateful Dead and classic rock cover band.
