Street Road Bar and Grille - 10/8/05No Raining on This ParadeAll the rain, flooded streets and mishaps could not derail a great experience at the Street Road Bar and Grill. After canceling a few shows to focus on the Dewey Beach Music Festival, Dave Devlin was performing with bassist Frank's other group The Spins (not to be confused with Rich Cox's band, The Spinz). They were up first and played blues, rock and some covers but some people were more interested in the Penn State game projected on the screen behind them. They did cover one of Dave's favorites "Psycho Killer" and got everyone into it with the classic Digital Underground tune "The Humpty Dance". A few minutes to enjoy the victory over Ohio State, then it was time for Dave and the mishaps. His wah-wah pedal broke a few songs in, as did Greg's hi-hat stand which led to plenty of frustration and instrumental filler. It appeared that the stage wasn't so solid with all the movement. It rocked the microphone stand causing it to constantly whack Dave in the face. But it worked out in the end. It was great how the venue allowed mostly original songs and to experience the full force of the new band. Frank once again took the mic, telling everyone his Halloween costume ideas and giving Dave a break. We got to meet Frank's sister who entertained by dancing in front of the stage for most of the set. It was one of the few times outside John and Peter's that I honestly felt that the audience was really into Dave and his music. I can't wait to see him there again.
