Blue Sinatra Hits The Song Spot

I felt much more comfortable returning to the TLA for the Song Spot festival because the bands on this bill were much more varied than the last time I was there, for the Emergenza Fest. The groups mostly played genre-bending music including rock-rap and folksy rock, all with melodies that were better on the ear. However, I was really there to see Blue Sinatra on their biggest stage yet. To warm up the crowd they played an instrumental introduction with every member playing conga drums or other percussive instruments with the King Of Rhyme wailing away. They performed five songs while most of the other groups got four. Crystal was back at trumpet for one of the last times, but both she and Kyle were stuck farther back onstage. About halfway through, Dal Tone hooked up the bubble maker which I thought would have been turned on much earlier in the set. Taragirl, a singer that has performed with the band before, came up for the final song. Unlike Abilene, there was plenty of room to dance at the TLA, and many took advantage during the set. It was nice to see members of Case Of The Mondays there, even if they didn't play, and London File who did. BS was also very happy to see so many fans and supporters there and I could tell firsthand that they appreciated all the support.

It's not a party unless you can bang, shake, or slap something.
