Finnigan's - 5/7/05

MOW Returns

An oddity of booking brought Mouth Of Wilson and These Crowded Streets together for the first time, but for me, it was a mostly enjoyable experience. A change of venue two days before led to Finnigan's (the first bar directly attached to a bowling alley I have ever seen) and deeper into New Jersey but closer to home for some members. It felt strange talking to two bands who knew me but didn't already know each other and switching between them. Two female fronted local acts opened, Kickin' Daisies and Subito; the former rocked hard but the latter didn't seem ready for prime time or even American Idol. An amazing thing to note is that three out of the four groups had women members. MOW did well once again but played almost the exact same set as they did at McGuinn's. Because the show started late These Crowded Streets had their set cut short, which made frontman Herc Fede not too happy. But I did see their new violinist and Herc's newly close-cropped hair which made him resemble Dave Matthews even more. With a new DMB album out, it won't be long before these guys add the new tunes to their set.

Mouth Of Wilson
Yay! All six members are captured in action in one photo.
These Crowded Streets. Now with less hair.
You gotta love the back shots.
