The Red Stallion - 4/23/05An Eclectic Mix of Stallion TalentSure, I had been to Big Head's and other Warminster bars that had live music, but little did I know that a good venue had gone under my nose this whole time. Through MySpace I discovered that The Red Stallion, the "little" bar I had passed many times before, was built for live music. On my first visit there, I saw a farewell show organized by artists I had checked out on the site. Some suprises were in store as well. The show started with the rhymes of Strange Dayz, a rap act that I thought was unusual playing there but then I realized how popular rap was out here. When Falling Out came onstage I recognized that the singer/guitarist was former classmate Bill Mullen. Seeing them brought me full circle because his old band, the Gate, played in the first Rage 4 AIDS festival which first got me involved with local music. Next was Glory Front which I was surprised to find out was only an acoustic singer/songwriter. They are signed with local label Curbside Records. With one of their final performances, Aperion showed why they are the best local death metal band (even if it wasn't my cup of tea). Finally the main event, Nova Ocean's final performance with their founding guitarist who had a large impact on their sound. It will be interesting to see where they go from there. More important than just the music, I met a few music lovers close to home (not really, sorry Kerri, but thanks for getting me out there, though.)
