A Night Of Grape Funk

A visit with intentions of building a relationship with one band unexpectedly led to an all-night party at Grape Street. Mama Winslow got it started with their soulful mix of keyboards and horns, recalling the founders of funk. Blue Sinatra celebrated with fresh copies of their new EP, Velvet Gold , and brought audience members up to play percussion for a looping instrumental interlude. Soma impressed with a melding of soul and country (using lap steel, no less) and allowed for free styling from the Burndown All-Stars. The All-Stars later lived up to their name and brought the house down with their parade of MCs and innovative beats.
