Willow Grove Moose Lodge - 2/24/06

A Family Affair

The Pheromones returned to the Willow Grove Moose Lodge almost a year after their first public performance as a group. Because this show started early, Brian brought his family along and I got to see his daughters. Jessica had to get a drum and the other act, Harrison and Waverly, hadn't gotten there yet so Brian performed a solo set. He got through two songs before the lights went out. Apparently, he blew a fuse. Lucky for him, Harrison and Waverly showed up and quickly set up. The two groups alternated throughout the evening. Being absorbed in '80s music most of the time almost made me forget about a bunch of cool songs from the '90s. Harrison and Waverly filled that void in their second set with covers from Sublime, Matchbox Twenty, Dave Matthews Band and others. When the Pheromones returned to the stage, former member Jack got behind the drums and tried his best to play along (Brian did the same for Harrison and Waverly on a few songs, neither fit very well). After that, the other band got back up and played out the rest of the night. The Pheromones said later that it was their worst show; I didn't feel that way. It could have been better, for sure, but the music has never been the main reason I see them. The best example of this was after the show, when we mugged for the camera in group shots. Then we managed to take care of a drunken Pat and formed a convoy to travel to our favorite haunt, the Red Stallion. There we talked to a DJ who some of us knew and did a bit of dancing.

Check out the entire set of photos from this show on my Flickr page!

The band shines under the lights. Well, actually, Pat glows under them.
Old times are captured... somewhat.
