Set Designer

Mouth Of Wilson and I were lucky Strawdogs started the night since I got there late and they needed the set list I had made for them. It was incredible the amount of people who were crammed into the club. Good thing a health inspector wasn't attending, since the room capacity certainly must have been exceeded. Devin didn't copy the set from the e-mail I sent him so I had to hand-write it - that meant swimming through the crowd to make it to the well-lit soundboard area. Once that was done and handed off, it was time to find a place to stand and enjoy the rest of Strawdogs' set. After they were done, enough people left so Katie, Tammy and I had places to sit. I was proud and a little embarrassed when Devin announced that I composed the set that they would be playing. The band played the set pretty much as written, making a small change to cut down on the tuning required. I learned that an album-like song arrangement is not always easy to follow live since most of the hardest songs to play were early in the set but the guys were happy with it and the crowd really seemed to enjoy it, that's all that mattered. This may have been the only time a group played songs in the order I wanted so it was very special and something to be proud of. Chalk this up as another accomplishment for the Catapilla Project.
